Reading ebooks on your cell phone?

I discovered the magic of ebooks sometime last year. Many of the people if proseltyzed to have a hardware hurdle to overcome: no ebook reader. Leave it to the Japanese to solve the problem in typical “no duh” fashion.

Cellphone companies are offering ebook downloads direct to your cell phone.

Heck, everyone has a cell phone. The Houston Chronicle has good coverage of this exploding technology which will soon spread over here. Ebooks on the phone. Yeah, this could be cool…

eBook reader units can be gotten for $100 now… that’s low enough for me to possibly play with once I have a job. They used to be like $300.

I can’t imagine why you would want to read a book on your cell phone. The screen is an inch square maybe. It’s like the inverse of e-ink. We’re supposed to be making eBooks even more like the real thing, not like text messages. I get the ubiquity aspect, but bleh. I imagine they’ll be as poor an ebook reader as they are a camera.
