I discovered the magic of ebooks sometime last year. Many of the people if proseltyzed to have a hardware hurdle to overcome: no ebook reader. Leave it to the Japanese to solve the problem in typical “no duh” fashion.
Cellphone companies are offering ebook downloads direct to your cell phone.
Heck, everyone has a cell phone. The Houston Chronicle has good coverage of this exploding technology which will soon spread over here. Ebooks on the phone. Yeah, this could be cool…
Some things are just so extraordinary, they must be reported in their entirety:
In a place where reality meets science fiction LoanPros.com is offering a new $1 Million Prize Promotion for the 1st Extraterrestrial home loan. After the ABC News documentary “The UFO Phenomenon — Seeing Is Believing,” hosted by Peter Jennings on Feb. 25. the idea started to germinate in the head of LoanPros.com president Wayne R Goldman.LoanPros.com is offering a $1 million prize to the first person who can bring in a certified extraterrestrial being for a home loan.
When asked why LoanPros.com would make such an outrageous offer, company president Wayne R. Goldman said, “We believe the existence of extraterrestrials is real and we want to do whatever we can to promote government disclosure, but it’s also a good promotional idea. The prize is real and we will stand behind it, if someone does actually bring in an Alien to us, and we don’t mean someone from another country.
“As far as what qualifies as a real extraterrestrial is subject to our interpretation, and criteria. There would have to be some signs that this person is a real extraterrestrial, a clear difference in the physiological make up, oh and the alien must be able to sign its name on the new home loan.
“If the person meets those standards then the person bringing in the extraterrestrial would indeed receive a $1 million prize from us “.
LoanPros.com is a highly successful mortgage company located in Huntington Beach, CA. LoanPros.com has been in business for 3 years with assets of over $20 million. “Wayne R Goldman says we don’t know if there is anything to these UFO phenomena, but we are willing to put up a million dollars to find out.”
I’m thinking their money is pretty safe. Great promo stunt none the less.
We (Mike, Joe, Evo) attended the inaugural ICE ESCAPE convention in Phoenix over the weekend. This isn’t your (or our) typical convention. No fans dressed in period garb. No 501st. No big-name authors walking around making all the little authors jealous at the scope of their brilliance. Nope, none of that. But it was a great place to be if you wanted to get the real skinny on what it takes to get published.

Since when did this place become a scavenger hunt? Oh well. If you can help Scott with his search…
When Stephen King’s “The Golden Years” first aired as a mini-series, I watched the first nine episodes (out of 10, I think). Then the last episode was pre-empted for a goddamn Detroit Tiger’s game, so I never got to see it. However, they put it out on VHS and it had a completely different ending. So I’ve never been able to find the original ending! Is that something you could put out to your listeners? I’m sure in that body politik there’s someone who could help.
I had no idea Steven King was involved in that show with Maude and her two sisters…
I’ve got a funny feeling this podcasting thing is gonna take off. Go figure.
While I’m busy on my own things (Tee, we’ve gotta tell everyone soon), I’m also helping to maintain the SF/F node over on ipodder.org. It’s a community-support directory of podcasts in various flavors. Unlike most search engines, this isn’t an automated thing, but completely moderated by humans. And I, cool as I am, have the honor and privlege to maintan the science fiction node.
A few minutes ago, I gave the node a major overhaul, adding some scifi podcasts I have been listening to as well as re-orging the page into subcategories. Adam has announced some impending changes to the way node managers can update the pages. He and I corresponded back and forth on some possible additions, so I hope he takes to heart my suggestions of adding things like frequency of updates, last uploaded show, and a better description field. We’ll see.
But anyhow, we know you love us best, right? But for the two or three days when we don’t provide you enough of a scifi fix, check the node. And if you know of a scifi podcast which I’ve missed, suggest a link! I’ll get to it ASAP.
A brand-new, exciting hour of entertainment from the creators of The Dragon Page “Cover to Cover” Show!
What’s on this week:
- We interview Mur Lafferty from Geek Fu Action Grip to talk about the essays that inspired her segment on the show, and then we hear another fun contribution this week. (And a cool new intro to boot!)
- We hear ‘A Different Point-of-View’ from Stormtrooper TD-0013 on the imperial battle with the rebellion.
- Evo goes off on Catwoman… Again.
And as usual, just a whole lot of fun and goofiness as only Michael & Evo can deliver.
I saw these at Stellarcon and I picked up one for myself (the green 12-sided die) and then, knowing how much Serena Aeryn loves the color red, I thought it would be just right for my baby girl!
So here it is — baby’s first con present, from Toy Vault.com.
For those of you who are enjoying the podcast of MOREVI, thank you so much! However, after a weekend at Stellarcon 29 in Greensboro, NC, I am needing a break. There are some other issues that must take priority, and I also need to give my voice some time to mend. So please bear with me, everyone.
Next week, be ready to return to MOREVI in Chapter Eight: Homecoming
