The making of a podcast star

Wow. Reading that again, that sounds pretty damned pretentious, huh? Maybe I should change it. Nah… good for Google indexing.

A special thanks to everyone who’s been casting votes for our shows over on Podcast Alley. (If you haven’t, do. Vote for The Dragon Page | Vote for Slice of Scifi. Assuming you like the shows. Which I suppose you must, or you wouldn’t be here. Unless you’re a heckler. That’s OK. We can take it.) In a few short days, our Slice of Scifi podcast (subscribe) has shot up to the number two position.

Just as exciting has been the meteoric rise (but shouldn’t that me a meteoric fall? it’s not like meteors rise once they’ve impacted the earth as a meteorite, and I don’t know of many that change their mind in mid-plunge to head back into space…) of this shows podcast, where we’re sitting nicely in the #14 spot as of this posting.

So far, the podcasting community has been OK with our stardom. Yes, we knocked a few shows down a rung, but we did it without the horrid mudslinging, name calling and mother-sodomizing which has been the norm over there on Podcast Alley. No, for the most part, everyone has been civil and nice to us. Maybe they just don’t wanna piss off the scifi geeks for fear of us pulling out our phasers or something.

So again, thanks to all that voted. You’ll have to do it again next month, most likely, as Podcast Alley reshuffles the deck each month. So don’t be surprised when we say “would you please be so kind as to do that again?”

And I am not ashamed to admit that I’m riding on the coat-tails of the guys!

The “grand experiment” is working. The podcast of MOREVI: The Chronicles of Rafe & Askana on its own is in the top 200! Last time I checked…#182. To be in the top 200 of how many THOUSANDS of podcasts registered on Podcast Alley? I’m thrilled!

Okay, even if there are only a few hundred registered, I’m glad to be in the Top 200…but I wouldn’t say “No” to a higher ranking!

Another sign of the success of this continuing experiment, I got an e-mail from a listener in British Columbia, Canada who is an audiobook reviewer from SFFAudio.com and said she is planning to give me a review on their site! And so far…she’s LOVING the podcast! :^D

I’m very lucky to have these guys in my corner. Thank you, Michael and Evo, for making this happen. Your success is well-earned and well-deserved, and I’m proud to be a part of Team Dragon Page.
