Anyone speak German?
I love following links and ending up in some of the most unexpected places.
Seems like Tad Williams’ Otherland series is being produced as a radio drama for German station Hessicher Rundfunk.
Thanks to Babelfish, I can get the gist of most of it, but I’m an info addict… I wanna know what it really says.
Seems like it’s a 24 hr long show, and 12 hrs have already been produced and it looks like some will be airing from May to June 2005, and the rest at the end of December 2005.
Can any German speakers/readers tell me if that’s correct?
I see links on the site to Real Audio samples of the production, and the options to buy German language CD’s of the first two “shows”.
Even though I wouldn’t understand it, I think it’s cool, because in some way, radio dramas could be considered the grandfathers of audiobooks, which in turn leads us to Evo’s favorite new word, podiobooks.

Hi
I tried translating the article for you, here’s the first part …
With 24 hours length Otherland is the largest radio drama production in radio history. Over 250 actors gave their voice to the characters. The radio drama is getting produced in the studios of “Hessischer Rundfunk” in Frankfurt/Main since January 19, 2004. Director Walter Adler and his team will spend some more month in the studio for cutting(?) and mixing.
The “Hessische Rundfunk” will send the 24 hours of radio drama of “Otherland” in four parts of six hours each in the culture programme hr2 and in You FM, the latest radio programme of hr. The first and second part were already aired. Part 3 will be aired on hr2 from May 22nd, 2005 on Sundays at 14.05. You FM repeats the 2nd part on Christmas, from Dec 25 to Dec 30, each evening on 11pm.
The CD edition is produced by Hrverlag, Munich. The first two parts “Stadt der goldenen Schatten” and “Fluss aus blauem Feuer” are already available in book stores.

Too bad you can’t do German, otherwise you could also listen to it over the internet
If you click on “Otherland hren!” in the first box, and go right down, you can listen to some snippets.
So just as I listen to podcasts to learn english, some might try to get a hold of that and learn german ;)))
