Dragon Page Wingin’ It #10: Smurfin’ It

What’s on this week:

- Michael is away & Evo tries to take control of the board. (This should be good!)

- Evo wants to start his own Cult?

- Mur Lafferty (Geek Fu Action Grip) gives us a new way to use the word Smurf. (Because we just don’t get to use it enough in normal conversation.)

Summer reads some News!

  • - Blade may be coming to TV minus Mr. Snipes.
    - Dead Zone & The 4400 back for more.
    - The Dark is Rising? A book coming soon to film.
  • - Stormtrooper TD0013 In case you missed some, we begin re-running “A Differn’t Point of View.” (They are even better the second time around.)
  • - Evo reads more fan mail.

About the feeds: I would not use the “master feed” if I can use multiple feeds. Using Doppler I have limited control for automatic archival. And a master feed requires manual archival tasks (renaming tags).

  2. Rick Hadley Says:

One suggestion to Mur and all habitual cursers…
Cute and fuzzy cruse words? I thought it was a cute segment and as an uncle to two young’uns I too have made an effort to curtail my “colorful metaphors”.

My Favorite??? is of course the f-Bomb! I have to thank the wonderful world of scifi for providing me with two great alternatives! Battlestar Galactica’s “Frack” & Farscape’s “Frell” have kept me out of trouble then the nephew decides to repeat every other word out of my mouth.

    Thanks for the continuing entertainment!

  3. Bruce Says:

I like them all separate. I subscribe to the lot, but I separate them into folders. This is especially helpful for the podio books. I don’t think I would use a giant master aggregate feed.

BTW, A show on the “futurist” aspect of SciFi might be fun. Like focusing on Sci Fi predictions that are just shy of being true. (Direct mind-computer links, the space elevator, Solar-Sail driven spacecraft..) Maybe from the angle of “Here’s what’s in Scientific American, here are the Sci Fi books that have talked about it and how did they do?” Could be a great Podcast crossover with SlackerAstronomy? :)

  4. Copy Clean Up Cop Says:

What’s with the mixture of dots and dashes on this post? And why are some things in italics and others not? Is it really that important that Summer read some news?

  5. Joe Says:

    Yes, yes it is.

  6. Summer Says:

Yes, “Frack” and “Frell” have been my saving throws on several recent occassions. And I’m probably one of just a handful of people who can say they used that term 25-plus years ago when Galactica was going around the first time.

And I like reading the news! Mostly because I tend to find the tv and movie stuff the guys miss, and because I sometimes get so caught up in watching Michael and Evo banter back and forth that I forget to chime in in a timely fashion :)

  7. Gavin Says:

For the “Name Joe & Summer” contest, I’m suggesting the sci-fettes. Just a thought.

  8. Geoff Says:

for joe and summer (or should that be summer and joe) how about minions or possibly muscrats

  9. Speed Racer Says:

Dragoneers. Dragon Air is a Hong Kong airline. Sounds like Mouseketeers!

    Wyrmlings–baby dragons!

Dragonettes–dragon children? Sounds like half of a singing group, like “St. George and the Dragonettes.”

The Companions. Doctor Who needs companions to ask him to explain what is happening in each show.

    The Pagelets. Little Dragon Pages.

The Wonder Twins … is not original, but fun! Wonder Twin powers activate!

The Council. As in The Lord of the Rings’ “Council of Elrond” or Star Wars’ “Jedi Council.”

  10. Speed Racer Says:

Oh, that previous post was for the Joe and Summer contest.

  11. Shane Says:

    How about the Dragoons!! :)
Evo, other than the fact that there wasn’t enough scifi in your part of the show, technically, I thought it was great!! God, listen to some other podcasts! They are so hit or miss, but yours is always technically excellent!! You can tell you are radio guys and audio engineers!!
