In Good Company…

Hey, everyone…

Thought I’d spread some good news concerning my book, Billibub Baddings and The Case of the Singing Sword. My dwarf detective has been short-listed for the 2005 IPPY (The Ninth Annual Independent Publisher Book Award).

The 2005 Semi-Finalists for the Best Fantasy/Science Fiction are…

Within the Shadow of Stone by Sheri L. McGathy (Double Dragon Press)
Singularity by Bill DeSmedt (per Aspera)
Runt the Brave by Daniel Schwabauer (Clear Water Press)
Empress of Clouds by Diana Hignutt (Behler Publications)
Soulware by Paul Black (Novel Instincts)
The Magister’s Mask by Deby Fredericks (Dragon Moon Press)
Binary Tales by John and Lawrence Buentello (iUniverse)
Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Singing Sword by Tee Morris (Dragon Moon Press)

The fact I’m in the running with Singularity tells me I’m in really good company. So I’m holding my breath and waiting. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Well, may the best author win. Best of luck to the both of us.

  3. Tee Morris Says:

    Diana,

Congratulations to you on your distinction. It is cool to make it this far, huh? I hope our paths cross in the future. (I’m going to be spending some time opposite of Bill Desmedt at Balticon 39.)

Good luck and well done! :^D

  4. Diana Hignutt Says:

    Tee,

My sincerest congratulations! Well done. The IPPY Finalists are:

    Fantasy/Science Fiction
Winner: Singularity, by Bill DeSmedt (per Aspera)
Finalists: Binary Tales, by John and Lawrence Buentello (iUniverse); Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Singing Sword, by Tee Morris (Dragon Moon Press)

Well, wish me luck for the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award for Science Fiction. You’re not gonna beat at that one too, are you?

    Diana Hignutt

  5. Tee Morris Says:

    Diana…

*LOL* Flattery will get you everywhere!

And good luck to you in ForeWord Magazine’s BOTY award. You don’t have to worry about me as ForeWord moved both Billibub Baddings and The Fantasy Writer’s Companion out of the categories Dragon Moon submitted them into originally. Billibub was moved from “Science Fiction” into “Fiction-General” (*gulp*) and (explain this one if you can…) The Companion went from “Career” (where The Complete Guide… received its nomination) to “Performing Arts & Drama.” So no, you don’t have to worry about me…

    …but…

…here’s the finalist list for ForeWord Magazine’s BOTY award in Science Fiction:

    22 Stories, David Lawrence, iUniverse
Empress of Clouds, Diana Hignutt, Behler Publications
Even The Stones, Marie Jakober, EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing
Shivering World, Kathy Tyers, Bethany House Publishers
Singularity, Bill Desmedt, Per Aspera Press
    Soulware, Paul Black, Novel Instincts
The City Built of Starships, Meredith Sue Willis, Montemayor Press
The Monastery, Seeth Miko Trimpert, AuthorHouse
The Planet of Mortal Worship, Donald I Templeman, iUniverse
The Pocket and the Pendant, Mark Jeffrey, Lulu Press

WOW! Not only are you locking horns with Bill Desmedt and Paul Black again, but you also square off with Podiobooks.com’s very own Mark Jeffrey.

Diana…you are in some seriously good company!

This is going to be one intense race! Good luck to everyone!

  6. Diana Hignutt Says:

    Tee,

Thanks so much! And best of luck to you as well. I’m sure we’ll be running into each other here and there–I’m looking forward to it. Are you going to the BEA for the ForeWord awards? I’ll be there.
