Think of this folks. There are still an amazing number of people that have no idea what Podcasting is - still to this day.
This can only help to introduce those uninformed masses to the joy of Podcasting. (Humm… Joy of Sex, Joy of Podcasting. There is a tag line in there somewhere.)
It’s still unclear how iTunes will function as a podcatching client. There are some indications that only “approved” podcasts will be listed with iTunes, leading some to assume only select podcasts can be accessed with the product.
And I tunes is not an RSS reader. Sure, it’s a simple matter to add in some code to have it scan RSS 2.0 files for tags, but it’s another matter all together to create a “reader” interface to view show notes and comments.
iTunes is at its core an audio download tool. Podcatching clients are more than that. And six months is a _very_ long time in podcasting.
I guess I’m one of the weird folks that went out of my way to find a program that wasn’t an RSS reader to use to get files.
My ideal, actually, would have been if my mp3 player program would have just added a plugin to get the files for me.

So what do you think.. now that iTunes is going to support podcasting, are the other programs still going to have a place?

I think it’s great for podcaster. 70% of all MP3 downloads come from iTunes. Think of the exposure podcaster will get.

Well yes, obviously it’s good for listeners.
What I meant was… do you think ipodderx will have a reason to exist in 6 months or however it takes 4.9 to come out.

If only I liked iTunes in even a small way…
