A good omen from the Great White North

Posted in trifle on June 30th, 2005 by Tee Morris

I’m about to head off to Dulles Airport and board a flight that will (eventually) get me to Calgary where a con and a book premiere will happen. But only a few days before my premiere of Legacy of MOREVI, I got great news in the shape of a review, from a Canadian-based website…

a review for the podcast of MOREVI!

This is the first review a podiobook has received from SFFAudio, and I could not be happier. Not only is this, for me, an indication of things to come, but also an indication for what’s in store for Podiobooks.com and podcasting authors in the future!

  • We also tell you about a cheesy/soft-porn/lesbian/scifi movie called Spiderbabe (In-depth reporting - This is why you listen!) And Mike recounts his troubles with Expedia.com.

iTunes 4.9 - Easier on podcasters?

Posted in trifle on June 28th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Well, the long-awaited and oft-hyped iTunes 4.9 was finally released. The theory is that this offering is a) easier to use and b) more widely accepted than the current podcast aggregators on the market.

We’ll see.

But if you’ve been waiting for this to happen before you subscribed to our show, the time is now. I’d love to hear from first-time podcatchers to see if it really is as easy as they think it is. We’re listed in the directory, or you can search and find all three shows. Enjoy!

Dragon Page Wingin’ It #16: Chupacabra!

Posted in DPWI Shows on June 22nd, 2005 by Summer Brooks

What’s on this week:

  • Michael Stackpole stops in the studio to share a drink with us. Topics of Scotch and Tequila ensue.
  • Michael, Michael and Evo talk in depth about an exiting new project they are all working on. The Scifi Podcast Network is coming soon, and will be your one stop for everything scifi. Don’t miss this conversation!
  • Stormtrooper TD0013 In case you missed some, we are re-running “A Differn’t Point of View.” (They are even better the second time around.)
  • Mur Lafferty (Geek Fu Action Grip) Wants to tell you about the female role in Scifi and why it is just not what she was hoping for.
  • This week’s Duel of the Fates by Jack Mangan, pits the Hal 9000 against his own character Tomi. (Yes, that takes balls, but this is why we love him.) Jack writes for Beyond Infinity Magazine.
  • Our, new feature the Scifi Poetry Slam! is getting good response so next up is a poem about the Chupacabra.

Store Wars!

Posted in trifle on June 20th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Brent wrote to me:

Star Wars with vegetables … yes it’s a viral
marketing film, but it is hysterical. Check it out:

Keep up the great work.

The great work shall be continued, just because you asked nicely. The link provided appeals to both my geek sensibility and my larger tree-hugger side.

From Fark.com

I have often wondered what casseroles were made of before Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup was invented.

This is kinda like that. From Fark.com. What did geeks do before electricity?

Our podcasting audience just got cooler!

‘Zine resurection

Posted in trifle on June 15th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Rick is bringing Urban Decay back from the dead. Er… hiatus. He writes:

I just thought i’d drop you a line to let you know that I use to be a small press publisher, and for the last year I’ve been thinking about resurrecting one of my fiction magazines called Urban Decay. A speculative magazine, which was mainly horror in the heyday of the horror short fiction boom of the mid 90s. The only thing stopping me was the fact that I didn’t have a very good outlet at the time, in the end i was spending more money on publishing it as I was getting in revenue (i’m sure you guys know how I feel).

Rather than the usual bi-monthly schedule I set out for myself I’m only planning 2 issues a year now, but i’m hoping to cram then full of stonking good fiction, artwork and the such.

Sounds very groovy. You can follow the story on Rick’s blog. Look for release info and submission guidelines to be released soon.

Saturday interview schedule

Posted in trifle on June 14th, 2005 by Evo Terra

We’re trying something new here. Lots of you have been asking for advanced notification (what, as opposed to prior notification?) of the upcoming interviews we’ll be conducting on Cover to Cover. I assume this is so you can get your questions in front of our illustrious guests. Let’s test that theory:

Interviews for Saturday, June 18, 2005

You can phone in your questions to our comment line (206-600-GEEK) and we’ll play them on the air to the guest during the interview. Or, Skype us at ‘dragonpage’ during the conversation. Alternately, you can email your questions to Summer if you’re old fashioned.
