iTunes 4.9 - Easier on podcasters?

Well, the long-awaited and oft-hyped iTunes 4.9 was finally released. The theory is that this offering is a) easier to use and b) more widely accepted than the current podcast aggregators on the market.

We’ll see.

But if you’ve been waiting for this to happen before you subscribed to our show, the time is now. I’d love to hear from first-time podcatchers to see if it really is as easy as they think it is. We’re listed in the directory, or you can search and find all three shows. Enjoy!

Well as a long time podcatcher I’m quite happy with the new iTunes 4.9. It took a few tries to see how the system works, but now I’m quite comfortable with it.

Does anyone know how the iTunes store ratings work? If I’m subscribed, does the store automatically count it? What if I add the feed manually?
Just hoping to see the Dragon Page listed :-)

Worked just fine for me. I’m now subscribed to you guys and enjoying what I’ve heard so far. Takes me right back to my college days. Although I’ll have to think about whether that’s a good thing or not…

People with iPods also have to point out that they need to update their iPods with the new update, otherwise the Podcasts won’t appear properly yet. Podcasts get their own shiny new menu, and we like shiny new things we do :-)

Shame the Mondo feed isn’t there, but all the shows are there as seperate feeds. Lacks a few more of the Podcasts I listen to, and I haven’t found out a way to input my own URLs yet. Guess I’ll keep my copy of iPodderX for a while, especially since I only recently splashed out cash for it.

Hope this brings you a whole new listening audience guys, maybe you’ll get that illusive number one spot on Podcastalley :-)

To add a custom podcast in iTunes:
    1. Menu: Advanced / Subscribe to Podcast…
    2. Enter your feed URL

DOH!!! Stupid me. Thanks for pointing that out.

I started listening to Slice of Sci Fi and Dragon Page via iPodder and/or Newsfire a couple of weeks ago. ITunes does not download faster but is certainly more STABLE than both. Woke up this morning and Newsfire was crashed but you were waiting for me on iTunes. But then what do I hear? You say on Dragon page that you are happy to change the tune on Slice of Sci-Fi. Please nooo! I love that tune: it is so cool, wierd and ironic, it gets the show off to a great start every week.
Keep up the great programming you are giving us.

    best wishes

iTunes was easy to use. I found your ‘casts quickly, clicked the subscribe button, and boom, it was downloading. Now every time I fire up iTunes to listen to my work music streams, it updates the ‘casts. I get nervous turning over so much control to one program, though. It’s probably just paranoia, but there it is.

I love 4.9 as a user, although one glitch I found. Lets say I do a search for “weather” related podcasts, then I pick one to subscribe to and click “subscribe”. Unfortunatly it takes you right into the new Podcast folder, so if I was going to subscribe to several “weather” podcasts, I would need to search “weather” for every new subscription. Hope they fix this as it’s kinda painful. Other than that, I just love podcasting and itunes, putting them together is wonderful.

From a Podcasting POV, it still needs some work. But I have to say, they are kinda forcing podcasters to post images with their feed. The more Image rich they make it the better. I have also taken a broef look into the “Chapter” download. Havn’t figured it out but it looks very COOL! You will be able to change the image as the podcast plays, will this lead to advertising images in Podcasts? I hope not.

for those interested in local weather Podcasts for every zip code in the USA, the feeds are easy

    Peace out!
