Hail to the Fanboy

Speaking of grassroots and scifi

I recently posted an article on my Blog (verysmalldoses.com) with some of my ruminations about grass roots sci-fi groups, how they relate to studios and vice-versa. I figured I’d share since this sort of stuff seems to deal directly with your target audience.

His sentiments echo things you folks have been telling us all along…

Earthcore finds a press and a new look

Posted in trifle on July 27th, 2005 by Evo Terra

When the new episode of SoSF (that’s Slice of Scifi for the acronymicallu challenged) releases later tonight, you’ll hear our exclusive interview with Scott Sigler where he tells all the Earthcore (or is it Earthcrack) fans about a deal he’s just inked with Dragon Moon Press to release a print-version of Earthcore.

Very soon, all of you addicts to the podiobook can pre-order a copy of your very own. Now you can build your little shrines complete with platinum dust, squids and silver-painted cockroaches. Don’t know what I’m talking about? You can still catch the last three episodes on the podcast, though I highly recommend starting from the beginning. Watch this space for announcements on how you can do just that!

More praise

OK, now I know we have to start keeping track of these as they happen. Brandon Sanderson had this to say about us post-interview:

I have to say, I was impressed with those guys. They really knew what they were doing, and it seems like they have a really good show. I’d recommend it.

Damn skippy. Anyone want the job of scouring the net looking for great things said about us? Crappy things are OK to, though I doubt we’d feature them! :)

We rock. Cory says so.

From his personal Craphound blog (damn I love that name!), Cory Doctorow wrote:

Dragonpage radio have recorded a podcast with me about the Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town and it went live [June 20, 2005]. I love doing interviews with these guys — they’re really knowledgeable and fun.

OK, so maybe I added the bolding at the end. We’ve gotta start keeping track of things like this!

Dragon Page Wingin’ It #18: Movie Geeking by Phone

Posted in DPWI Shows on July 13th, 2005 by Summer Brooks

What’s on this week:

  • Evo’s back up north, leaving Michael, Joe, and Summer to do the show alone. However, Joe stayed in Tucson, and Summer was too tired to make it in to the studio, so Michael is forced to drink alone and talk to them on the phone.
  • The whole gang has seen Fantastic 4 and War Of The Worlds. Good discussion ensues. (Warning: some spoilers are contained within!)
  • This week’s Duel of the Fates by Jack Mangan, pits Kirk vs. Starbuck. Jack’s forthcoming e-book, “Spherical Tomi”, will be published by Creative Guy Publishing.
  • ED209 brings us an essay about rabid-fandom. Hope you enjoy Fanboi
  • Scifi Poetry Slam! This week we present Cylon Dreams by Robert G. Parent.

Plus Scifi Porn, Canada, and more!

… to this post. Another podcasting service has gone live, and I have to post this little snippet to claim my feed so I can get it in line.

(Things have been awfully quiet since I’ve been on vacation. Everyone still alive?)
