Dragon Page Wingin’ It #19: Oh, Canada!

What’s on this week:

  • Evo’s back in the studio this week. (It’s about time.) Mike Stackpole stops in to add to the conversation, and Paul - one of our listeners - stops by to bring beer and hang out. Our in-studio audience is growing.
  • Evo tells us why Canada does not get Podcasting.
  • This week’s Duel of the Fates by Jack Mangan, pits Ash vs. Godzilla. Jack’s forthcoming e-book, “Spherical Tomi”, will be published by Creative Guy Publishing.
  • In this week’s Views from the Yard, Selina Rosen of Yard Dog Press is back to tell us about: “Trends in Horror.” Enjoy!
  • Scifi Poetry Slam! This week we present Bard’s Truth by Robert G. Parent.

Plus Evo’s reading list, Summer’s celebrity status, and more!

Totally unrelated, but what’s up with Slice of Scifi? And podiobooks.com.

  2. Michael Mennenga Says:

Well, it is related to some extent. Here’s the scoop on what is going on.

A few days ago some small-minded dirt-bag with an inferiority complex decided to hack into the server farm that hosts some of our content and deleted everything. (Yes, everything - down to, and including, the operating system.) Needless to say, we have a lot of work ahead of us trying to get things back to normal.

We’ll do our best to keep you all informed of our progress. Thank you all for the kind words and support during our time of reconstruction.

Please continue to vote for Slice of Scifi even though it is mostly down at this point. We are not going anywhere, and still feel the show is worth the Podcast award that it was nominated for.

Hang in there dear fans, we’ll be back better than ever!

  3. Mark A Says:

Ah, Evo… Why’d you have to go and spoil the plan? We’ll be lucky if we get Washington (Hello Microsoft [and Bungie!]) now.

As to Canada not getting podcasting, I think it’s a matter of exposure. Only only media-wise, but word of mouth. And with only about 37 million people across the country, we’re pretty spread out.

Case in point. Friend I haven’t seen since high school, communicate with via email rarely. I tell him about podcasting. He honestly tries one or two. Doesn’t quite get it. I wanted to smack him one, I honestly did. Haven’t talked to him since. (Though he’s a little loopy, so no big loss.)

  4. Mark A Says:

    Sorry for triple posting.

Errors led me to believe that nothing went through each and every time.

  5. Magess Says:

That happens to me fairly often too. For some reason the number checks don’t like to work. And/or it takes a really long time to process.

  6. Michael Mennenga Says:

Not to worry about the extra posts. I clean then up when they occur. We are aware of the problem and are working on it.

  7. Mark A Says:

And just what the hell was that country hick thing about? Filler?

  8. Michael Mennenga Says:

Cattle Bros. Furniture is Evo’s brain child. I’ll let him explain it to you. (We thought it was funny.)

  9. Mark A Says:

I found it funny to hear you two talk as hicks, but beyond that…

  10. Brad P. from NJ Says:

Jack Mangan. Will somebody please smack that boy?

    Ash losing to Godzilla. pheh.

I was really hoping to hear Ash move up the ranks. I mean, you guys just interviewed Bruce, and then you let a contributor kill off one of his incarnations… you even had him do a bumper for you that you put on after getting killed off.

    Gawd.
