Podcasting about podiobooks
Posted in trifle on July 5th, 2005 by Evo TerraWhile we were in Canada, Tee and I hosted a panel on podiobooks. I recorded it for those who are interested. In fact, I’ve made a brand new podcast to handle the upcoming announcements regarding Podiobooks.com.
Beercasting specials on Wingin’ It!
Posted in trifle on July 5th, 2005 by Evo TerraA few days ago, I talked about the special stuff from WesterCon 58 that would only be available to our podcast subscribers. In that post, I suggested you subscribe to the Cover to Cover feed. Still a good idea, but there’s more.
The beer casting is a better fit for Wingin’ It!, since a few choice words are used and there isn’t much (if any) talk about books. Since we’re trying to stay nice and friendly to the C2C listeners, the beer casting won’t be found there.
You can subscribe to http://dragonpage.com/podcastWing.xml if you like. Or if you’re sick of all this multi subscribing crap (which was your idea, don’t forget) you can get all three shows (plus any and all extras) at http://dragonpage.com/podcast.xml
WesterCon 58
Posted in trifle on July 5th, 2005 by Michael R. MennengaWhat a great time we had!
4 wonderful days in Calgary has left us with a new appreciation for Canada. We may even have to start being nicer to Canadians after this. (No, Really!)
We met some great people, and talked with some really great fans of Scifi/Fantasy. We came away from the experience amazed. Canadians love their scifi, and with any luck, we have gained a whole bunch of new listeners to our shows as well.

Mark A. is currently our most rabid fan. He drove 3 hrs just so he could meet us. We were so impressed by that, we asked him sit in and watch us do an interview and then took him out for beers. Yeah, we know how to give back to our fans. (Check out the Special Beercast with Mark and Grant)

As you can see, we really packed ‘em in.

Robert J. Sawyer and Edo Van Belkom gave a great talk with their “Ask a Pro Anything” panel. (They got a real crowd.)

Edo Van Belkom giving us the sign.

Tee and Evo had a great panel on Podibooks. Spreading the love up north. (Oh yeah!)
Canadian beercasting redux
Posted in DPWI Extra on July 4th, 2005 by Evo TerraHow do you like your brew? Mike, Tee and I take Grant and Mark A. out on the town in Calgary, stopping off at Brewsters to enjoy a pint or two of the local fare. We caught the whole thing on tape (file “DPBC_WC58_070305.mp3″ lost to system crash?), and do in fact manage to talk a little about science fiction in near the end. (More than the occasional S-bomb will be dropped. We were drinking, for christ’s sake…)
Topics covered:
- Before we drink, first we must order food! Brett was the hottest person named “Brett” We’ve ever seen
- Tee and Grant have floaties in their Blueberry Wheat Ale
- Bighorn Bitter was Evo’s choice, which was a lot less bitter than he was hoping for
- Mark drinks a classic wheat ale and Mike had an amber ale. Yes, both forgot the name, so they get combined on one line
- Tee invites you all to drink with him… last night. *sigh*
- Mike and Tee geek on podcasting equipment for GarageBand
- Tee and Evo discuss details on their writing of Podcasting for Dummies
- Tee was wearing his Evil Genius Chronicles t-shirt, and we discuss the “style” of the EGC podcast. Love ya, Dave!
- Tee’s comments on Nicole’s voice have been immortalized by the cool-kids
- Does videocasting belong in the Podcasting for Dummies book?
- Fixing Lucas’ dialog
- We cajole Grant in to making his own cast, or just listening to us
- Steven King’s literary style discussed
- M Knight Shamalamadingdong’s movie styles disgust (not a typo)
- Comparative musical styles of popular music since 1989
- Tee asks for Raspberrys floating in his next pint, where all of the rest of us stick with what we’ve got
- The “shocker” contest is over as soon as this goes up.
- Tee talks about how big of a dweeb he was in college
Podcast Roll Call:
- Dawn and Drew
- Mur Lafferty
- Rev Up Review
- The Bitterest Pill
I take my first helping of crow for giving Canada so much shit for years. More to come…
- Tee’s “Con-a-Month” tour, with love to those who love the smaller press
- Robert J. Sawyer is looking good!
- Tee and his stalker fans
- Batman reviewed by Tee and commented on by all
- A SMART car drives by and Evo start drooling
- DareWear explained
- X-Men covered, too
Beer Casting from Canada
Posted in DPWI Extra on July 3rd, 2005 by Evo TerraMike and I visit the Canadian version of Hooters (file “BeerCast.mp3″ lost to system crash?).
Lots of eye candy, and some odd beer. Light on the scfi, so feel free to skip if this isn’t your cup of tea….
Extra stuff from Westercon!
Posted in trifle on July 3rd, 2005 by Evo TerraMike and I have recorded and released some “special things” while we’ve been attending WesterCon 58 in Alberta Canada. Special things are defined as:
-
Robert J Sawyer and Edo van Belkom
Dragon Moon Press book release party
Podcasting panel
Mike and Evo beercasting.
Here’s the catch: you’ve gotta subscribed to the feed (it’s free, so stop bitching) to get these. They WILL NOT be posted on this website. Download a podcatching client (see the left side of this page), paste http://dragonpage.com/podcastC2C.xml in your client of choice, and enjoy our podcasting goodness. Huge ploy to get more subscribers? You bet. It’s good to be the Evo…
