Listen to today’s BandTrax

Posted in trifle on August 12th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Show a little love to a couple of folks I’m a fan of, would you please?

On today’s episode of the BandTrax Podcast (one of only three music podcasts worthy of my subscription list), my old band Spaz Kitty is featured. SF geeks will dig the tunes which play later in the show. In fact, I think we played an earlier version of Super Villain on a previous episode of Wingin’ It!.

Subscribe to BandTrax if you want a good and eclectic mix of tunes, or at least download today’s episode to give my former band mates a listen.

A great AMC afternoon…

Posted in trifle on August 12th, 2005 by Evo Terra

So I’m trying to get this chapter for Podcasting for Dummies done, but I’m hitting a brick wall. I turn on the television and on AMC I find a pleasant distraction: Dragonslayer. 1981. Walt Disney/Paramount Studios. WOW! I had forgotten what a completely cool movie it was, one of those movies that laid a goose egg at the box office, but on looking at it now you realize how ahead of its time it was and how bad ass it really is. And that dragon…damn!

Following Dragonslayer, AMC’s afternoon at the movies conitnues its streak with Blade Runner, and this was the Blade Runner I liked: The Blade Runner with Harrison Ford’s Bogie-style voiceover.

Barry knew what happened to Fay Wray

Posted in trifle on August 11th, 2005 by Evo Terra

On the last Wingin’ It! show, I asked for the audience partici…. pation follow-up to Dr. Frank N. Furter’s lyrical question: “What ever happened to Fay Wray?

And while it was no challenge and hundreds upon thousands of RHPS fans are furiously typing out emails to me with the correct response, Barry was quicker. Yes, I realize how horribly unfair the notion of timeshifting makes “be the first caller” style contests… but I don’t care.

Congrats, Barry. And for those that do not know, she went ape-shit. Still not making sense? What are you doing tomorrow night at midnight?

A lost battle for the littlest Trooper

Struggles of this magnitude often times end with disappointment and heartbreak. A special thanks from all of us for those that contributed and sent good karma and positive energies to Katie, her family, and her extended family.

If this is news to you, please click the image above for more information and to lend assistance with the final arrangements. To Kevin and the rest of the 501st, thanks for bringing this to our attention, and for all you did and will continue to do. You guys are true heroes.

Attention All Members of the Terranary Federation

Posted in trifle on August 5th, 2005 by Summer Brooks

…we have assumed control.

Whoops… wrong channel.

Remember back in Wingin’ It #21 when Evo directed members of his cult to follow the links?

Well, at the time, there was no link… but that has now been rectified.

All Terranary Cultists: follow your instructions!

Slice of Sci-Fi is the WINNER in the Category: TOP RATED Podcast

Our media focused podcast, Slice of Scifi has just been announced the winner of the Top Rated category of the People’s Choice Podcast Award. How very cool is that? Mike and I (and everyone else at SoSF and tDP) are incredibly humbled by this gesture, and wish to thank everyone who voted for us.

Congrats also to fellow TSPFN member podcast TheForce.net for taking top honors in the Movies / Film category.

Well Check Us Out!

Posted in trifle on August 4th, 2005 by Michael R. Mennenga

This is truly cool. SFF Audio has an article on Podcasting, but it is The Dragon Page and our host of shows that seem to dominate the story.

“A long running Arizona radio show has transitioned from mere frequency and amplitude modulations to the exciting world of Podcasting! But in a distirbing turn it has started to multiply at a truly alarming rate! The Dragon Page has spawned three, count em three, podcasts and a number of spinoff serial novels. Will they become the Walmart of SF & F podcasting? Tune in and see…”

Now there is a lofty goal for us. Personally I would love to become the ‘Walmart’ of Scifi & Fantasy talk radio. I guess we’re doing something right to get this kind of press.

Thanks SFF Audio. We love you!

There are some things money can’t buy…

Posted in trifle on August 4th, 2005 by Evo Terra
  • Powerbook G4 with 60 GB hard drive: $2500

  • iPodderX premier podcatching client: $19.95
  • Dumping a years worth of podcasts and increasing available disc space from 4 GB to 25 GB: Priceless.

There are somethings money can’t buy. Like remembering that I’m not a pack rat, and that it’s OK to dump a bunch of stuff I’m never gonna listen to again, right? (Well, I saved some stuff…)
