Hey, thanks for the drunken plugs and mentions!
It’s true - Evo gets a nod in Spherical Tomi’s Acknowledgements for that rarest of things: CONSTRUCTIVE constructive criticism. ST’s dialogue was greatly improved after his comment, and also after hearing and reading it aloud.

As for PKD, I appreciate his genius and have read a few things, but not nearly enough to consider myself a Dick scholar (oh stop it).

  2. Mark A Says:

    Where to start…

Ah, yes, first, the cultcast. I’m now a cheapass (re: poor) Terranary.[And a KAMN(oh, a acromyn for the ninjas!) listener, don't hate me!] (Not comfortable with calling myself a ‘Terraist’ yet least Bush gets wind of it…) Thus, this lowly Acolyte (or whatever rank you deem appropriate) is ready to spread the word of Evo in Canada.

Which brings me to another point in terms of services as befitting the Master. Mike had put the call out 2 weeks ago for someone to help find those bands you used in the first year of your show. I commented in that I would, and he responded back that he’ll get around to it after Dragon*con. I’ll be blunt and ask on the status of that, or did it fall in the wayside between Nyquil and hot fluids? This lowly one needs clarification (stopping cult mode…now.).

I would love to do the Serenity contest…but, first I have to be able to go to Arizona on a drop of a hat (the plane ticket alone would be something expensive); second, I’d have to somehow answer those hardcore questions! I would have picked up Firefly (only $50 CDN!), but no one nearby had a copy. :(
Ah well. My city will get Serenity soon enough, but I’ll be damned if I go in cold. Hypothetical question: if I were to see Serenity without watching Firefly first, what percentage of nil would I understand?

  3. Michael Brunton-Spall Says:

Oh, great you guys love the Hobgoblin then?

As an English beer lover (thats I’m english and love beer) thats one of my favourite beers!

Fatanstic to be finally cuaght up on my winging it, I’ve moved house and been without internet for the last month, so I have about 80 hours of podcasts to listen to!

Ah well gives me something to do while working.

P.S. Have you guys had David Eddings on Cover to Cover yet? The Belgariad has got to be the best fantasy series ever, the first fantasy books I ever read!

  4. Lou Sytsma Says:

In regards to your bleeping reviews - I had gone through the ROTS one so I knew what to expect.

May I suggest a compromise? Bleep away all you like but how about a short nonspoiler, general impressions - thumbs up, thumbs down companion review?

Personally I am more interested in reactions rather than specifics.

    Thanks

    Lou

  5. podakayne Says:

dear mike & evo…still luv the show and all its spin-offs…and long live the Cult of Summer…my comment however concerns the telephone message where the guy “thinks” he sounds like evo…guess you really had to be there…for my money evo and i hope you’re not too offended, you sound a bit like kermit(maybe kermit on guiness, kermit with ms piggy attitude, kermit grown up, etc., etc., etc.)…could be my speakers but that’s my impression of your voice…and hey i’m still listenin’…dont hate me.

  6. evo Says:

    Hi-ho, Podakayne!

No offense taken. Second time I’ve heard this now. First was from some band-mates on a song of mine called Strange Little Monkey. And now, podcasting.

Hey. It’s not easy being green. ;) I’ll be movin’ right along now.

    E.

  7. Summer Says:

Mark, you can see SERENITY without having seen the Firefly series; but trust me when I tell you it’ll just want to make you see the series ASAFP :)

  8. Beth Says:

What is the feed for the Kick Ass Mystic Ninja podcast?

    -Beth in Houston

  9. Summer Says:

Beth, the feed for the Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas can be found at the website, http://www.kickassmysticninjas.com/

We haven’t yet talked about adding the feed to the Dragon Page’s collection of feeds, mostly because none of us thought about doing it yet :)
Let’s see how far we can kick the show off the ground first…

  10. J.R. Murdock Says:

I’ve been avoiding posting until I was sure the con*Funk was gone. Hope you guys is all better.

The bleeped version was great! I’m itching to see the Serenity (or maybe I just need a shower) and can’t wait to hear the un-bleeped version.

  11. taz16b Says:

    Evo:

Been on your personal website looking for your promised podcast and it looks very much like a cobwebsite! Where exactly in the URLverse will be be able to find the cult leader’s words of wisdom?

    And for Summer and Joe:

The KAMN podcast zero definitely whetted my appetite. As a 30-something life-long SF/F fan, I can definitely say that we all hold special places in our hearts for those stories, shows, movies that drew us in as kids/teenagers and kept us through adulthood. I can’t wait to have discussions about middle school and the Xanth novels (before they jumped the shark), Katherine Kurtz and the Deryni (sucked up much of my waking moments for about 6 years), Neuromancer and cyberpunk opening my eyes to a whole new world, watching bad Sci Fi TV in the 70s (OK, yes, I DID watch Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century), the awe of the first Star Wars movies, etc.

That give you guys enough to start with???

    Until the next go round..

    Taz

  12. shanachie Says:

Hey guys, yes yo do have Belgian ( NOT Belgianese ) listeners.
A was actually thinking of sending you some Belgian beer, I the cost isn’t to prohibitive.
You know, a Belgian beer has been labeled the best bear in the world: that would be Westvleteren 12. Not the only one, there are 3 Belgian beers in the top 10.

One thing do, I need to no that beer you mentioned because I didn’t get it completely. Send me an email, ok.

    And remember:
“Een bier met liefde gebrouwen drink je met verstand”
“A beer brewed with love you drink sensably”

  13. Summer Says:

Taz, I have a whole rant on the Xanth novels… don’t get me started yet! I still have to keep warm for our first topic, Hyperion. Check out KAMN for the pre-show discussion thread.

Shanachie, the beer with the dancing devil on the label is Belzebuth. A friend of mine was able to find it in NJ, but I haven’t seen it since I moved to AZ. If that’s not the one you mean, shoot me an email.
