All over the map!

Posted in trifle on October 31st, 2005 by Evo Terra

If you’ve been listening for any length of time, you know we’ve got an international audience. Thanks to the magic of some free and cool internet technologies, we’ve got a Digital Push-Pin Map of where our listeners are at in the wide, wide world.

(OK, it’s pretty barren now, but as you start adding…)

Putting yourself on the map is simple. Click the link above, then click the “add me” link on the right. Or just scroll to the bottom. Add your postal code and a little message, and you’re on the map! If you are (likely) outside of the US, click the link that says that, enter a bit more data, and you are there, too!

How easy is that? No personal data to worry about. Just an easy reference to see how far our signal travels!

Podcasting for Dummies almost here!

Posted in trifle on October 27th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Yes, it appears that hanging out with the likes of Jack Mangan and Tee Morris has soiled my soul. But I post this here because Amazon doesn’t make a decent banner ad for new books, and a few folks have asked to run one on their site. Fine. I made it.

For those that need a little extra hand-holding and prefer things cut-and-paste like:
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0471748986/ref=ase_dragonpage"><img src="http://dragonpage.com/ledads/data/PfD468x60.jpg" /></a>

Use it widely and distribute it far. Book releases Nov 7, 2005.

Drink while you think

Posted in trifle on October 27th, 2005 by Evo Terra

In an dual effort to spread good-natured fun and completely piss off those who claim we drink too much:

While I have neither the desire nor inclination to participate in NaNoWriMo (but completely support those that do. Rock on.), I think I might be able to find time in my busy schedule to take on the challenge of NaDruWriNi, or National Drunk Writing Night.

Anyone else feel up to the challenge? If you don’t have a blog, feel free to send us your text and we’ll post them here! And it need not be limited to SF/F. Just write your drunken hearts out! I think I’ll write about being “flippant”…

Die in your car - Get a ticket.

Posted in trifle on October 21st, 2005 by Michael R. Mennenga

Dropping dead in your car in Sydney is no excuse for taking up a valuable parking spot. According to this report on Yahoo! News, a man died in his car and received a ticket.

“A traffic warden slapped a parking ticket on a car which had its dead driver slumped at the wheel outside an Australian shopping mall, an official said Friday.”

So, this is a little like china, where they execute you and send the bill for the bullet to your family?

Tee Morris presents his first solo podcast…

Posted in trifle on October 17th, 2005 by Tee Morris

Hey, everyone!

With a lot of help from “He” and Nicole Simon and some feedback from The Mighty Mur, I’ve launched my own podcast:

The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy

So what is The Survival Guide all about? This is a podcast that falls between Mur Lafferty and Mike Stackpole. I’m the podcast for new writers with their first title, or with an author who have signed the contract, finished the edits, and are expecting their first box of books to arrive. The Survival Guide is also for the established author who is looking for marketing ideas. This is a podcast of promotional strategies and personal stories that give an inside look at how authors get their works from the publisher’s presses to the hands of the general public.

I just kicked it off. Comments (and subscribers) are welcome…

A good friend passes

Posted in trifle on October 8th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Barry Bard, friend of the Dragon Page and any other fan of science fiction, fantasy and movies from Phoenix, passed on yesterday after an all-too-short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Barry was a face you could always count on at conventions and events, either handing out passes to movies, putting out movie posters for free, previewing the coming releases, or sticking pins and other forms of tchotske on your person.

An encyclopedic knowledge of rare books and SF trivia, you will be missed, Barry.
