Thanks Evo, I almost got in a wreck trying to shut off the PSP when you said spoiler alert. Stupid idiot came into my lane when I had only one hand on the wheel. All for not though I guess. *evil eye*

Some of us were providing security for a huge fundraiser over the weekend and couldn’t go see it, so some fans have GOOD REASON for being late. :) But at least I know now NOT to listen to SoSF… well at least until Friday night (stupid work).

Anyways, everyone else, you are all doing a great job. Evo…. well, some things are better left unsaid. :)
You guys should do some classic Mur!!!!

  2. Dan B. Says:

The spoiler thing? NOT funny. Sorry I’ve been working all week and haven’t had a chance to see Serenity. I’m going tomorrow morning. But now the movie’s been horribly spoiled for me. Not about one important moment, but TWO. The bleeped episode was funny, but what’s the point of doing the bleeps if you’re just going to turn around and ruin this movie for anyone who hasn’t had a chance to see it yet? I guess I’m supposed to read the shownotes before I listen to every show now. Thanks for the warning.

  3. Dan Says:

This is really bugging me. The least Evo can do is send us one of those Men in Black mind-wipey thing.

  4. Mark A Says:

I’m gonna be a Carmack fanboi for a moment, so bear with me.

First, it’s ‘id’ as in one word, NOT i-d. Id is a word. As to why they are called that is explained on their website ID Software.

Second, I’ve been reading around, and there seems to be some division on the FPS aspect to the DooM movie. My piece on this is if I wanted an FPS experience so badly, I could have stayed home and played any number of FPS’s I have on hand.

Finally, there is a little bit of a plot. Have you ever heard of Doom 3? They are taking the same plot, but instead of hell breaking loose around the player because of a teleporter experiment, the team is transported to Mars after genetically enhanced humans run amock. Guess we can’t ‘offend’ anyone, can we?

Gee, what’s next? An adaptation of Halo? Oh, that’s in the works. Quake 4? Dunno.

  5. Miles Teg Says:

I agree that the spoiler was NOT funny. Some of us have responsibilities that kept us from seeing the movie on the opening weekend. Besides that I was trying to do my duty as a browncoat to get my wife and friends up to speed on the series this week, which was the only week that fit in their schedules, so I would bring more than one warm body to the box office. Now, I will of course still go see it, though you’ve ruined it horribly for me. Even the bleeped episode was kind of funny, if a little annoying, this was just uncalled for. I really don’t know what makes you think you are so funny. I do have “other” words I would like to say to you, but I choose to respect this being a public forum.

Though I will never stop being a Firefly fan, I WILL stop listening to your podcasts. You’ve lost one listener and I will encourage those who I’ve turned on to your podcasts in the past to drop them and NOT recommend them to anyone else.

  6. Randy R. Says:

I am sorry that some of you are not happy with the spoiler that Evo let slip out. I personally thought it was kind of funny. Of course I had already seen the movie. I am just surprised that some people are getting defensive about it.

Think about it. These guys have been taking about this movie for months. The movie was released last Friday. You know they are going to talk about the movie. If you were worried about spoilers why did you listen to the podcast.

I am smart enough to know this and I live in Oklahoma and Evo claims that we are just a bunch of uncreative in-breeders in this state.

  7. Mart Says:

    E-mailed to evo:

    Hey evo,
Just writing to let you know how amazingly pissed off i am at the stunt you pulled on this week’s winging it.

Living in the UK, Serenity isn’t even out here until today (Friday 7th), and I of course have tickets for the first show I can get to.
While waiting in anticipation all week, I purposely avoided Slice of Sci-Fi so as to not ruin my movie-going experience.

    Thanks a lot Asshole.

I can’t decide if I want to unsubscribe to the podcast right now (in a fit of anger), or wait until after next weeks show, just to see how much hate mail you get for this crap.

Either way, I don’t want to listen to a podcast where I can’t trust the hosts not to ruin a movie that they, and the rest of the sci-fi community, have been looking forward to for so long.

The bleep episode pales in comparisson to this.

  8. Dan B. Says:

Since some are saying that they are unsubscribing, I just wanted to clarify that I am not unsubscribing. I still enjoy listening to the podcasts for all the other people on them. I’m kind of suprised Mike, Summer, or Joe didn’t interveen and stop Evo from putting that out, or atleast bleeping it. A bleep would have been funny and continued the joke of the bleeped episode. But hey, it happened. So yeah, won’t be unsubscribing because I still like the shows. Evo’s cult cast however I WILL be unsubscribing from.

  9. Phil Middleton Says:

Lighten up people, it’s only a movie!!

  10. Dan B. Says:

I just saw the movie… All is forgiven. ^_^

  11. Sevens Says:

Evo, you really should have gone back and bleeped that huge spoiler you let out. It didin’t spoil me because I went and saw Serenity on opening night, but that has to suck for others who haven’t seen it.

Anyway…can someone explain to me what the Feed the Dragon segment is about? I obviously haven’t been a listener long enough or I just plain forgot :p

    -Sevens

  12. J.R. Murdock Says:

*Yeesh* Lighten up. 1) It’s a movie. 2) I had to rewind it four friggin times just to understand what was said.

I’ve watched firefly, I’ve not seen the movie, AND I’ve listened to all the spoilers. It’s not goin to ruin the movie for me. It’s a movie. I’m going for the experience. Sorry, but I think a big deal is being made out of nothing.

Though it will be funny to hear Evo get a reaming over this one. :)

  13. Mike Says:

You said that it was non-Battlestar fans that had issues with the attempted rape scene in the season Finally. Well I am a Fan that actually had a problem with it. I could have gone the whole series with out having that attempted rape scene. There is just some lines you don’t cross and that was one of them. You wouldn’t beleave how Freaken Happy I was when that guy got killed for attempting to rape Boomer. The only thing that disappointed me was his death was to quick, I wanted him to have a loooooong drawn out death. I could describe what I wanted his death to be like, but hey children visit this site. At the end of that episode I wanted nothing more then to see Pegasus blown up with the whole crew on it. I don’t want any of them in the series. That scene came pretty damn close to ruining the whole series for me, If it had gone any further I would have officially stopped watching the series and probily joined a Anti-Battlestar group. I will NEVER re-watch that episode again. My only hope for next season is that it starts off with Battlestar disabling Pegasus and then leaving them for the Cylons to finish off.

  14. Nicolas Says:

I also just unsubscribed because of the spoiler. Bye.

  15. Michael Brunton-Spall Says:

Well, I ahve to say, I’ve purposefully not listened to slice of scifi or the special report on serenity as both contain spoilers.
I have to say, I thought that the bleeped episode was very funny, it went on a little long for my taste, the fast forwarding would have helped.
But I did think it was funny.
I also thought that Evo’s spoiler on winging it was incrediblly funny!
I’ve only seen the first episode of firefly at the moment, and am trying to see a few more episodes before taking my wife to see the film.

I think unsubscribing is a little stupid for something like this, your only depriving yourself of Mike and Evo’s shows, it’s hardly going to bother Evo much huh?

Anyway, great shows, I listen to all three, and enjoy them thoroughly!

    Keep rocking

  16. Red Says:

Evo, you can get Violet Crumbles from World Market. There are two near the Dragon Page Studios.

  17. therunningwolves Says:

I would never unsubscribe for something so silly. Yeah it sucks, but oh well. I’ll forgive Evo, eventually.

  18. Michael Mennenga Says:

Unsubscribing just means that they will miss out on this week’s show and the repercussions of Evo’s spoiler.

(BTW - Wingin’ It! will be out on Fridays from now on.) So when you don’t see it on Wednesday, that is why.

  19. Dan B. Says:

Repercussions? Oooh I can’t wait! haha.

  20. vfrgurrl Says:

Well, yes it IS just a movie. But some people have to take kids to football games, and work, etc. However, if you were a real browncoat, you would have been in line on Friday to see the movie as I was.
I think a fitting punishment for evo would be to sit in on Winging It with no beer. Surely this horrible torture would satisfy the Jubal Early in us all. Love your show, guys, and Michael…
(sigh) could you say “Let’s be bad guys” for me one time?

  21. John Says:

Worse punishment than no beer - how about a month of Wingin it on nothing but Bud Light?

Seriously though, I would like to know how many of you that were upset by Evo’s spoiler continued to be upset after seeing the movie?

I was initialy annoyed by the spoiler, (living in the UK I had not been able to see the movie). However after having seen the movie I realised that the “spoiler” did not spoil the movie. The incident occurred so suddenly and was so unexpected that, when it occurred, I was as surprised as everyone else in the theatre.

For those of you that have unsubscribed, you are only depriving yourselves of one of the best podcasts in the Verse.

  22. Rich Sigfrit Says:

The BSG comments about being alone in the universe against a seemingly endless horror:

The same thing happened to the military in 28 Days Later. As horrific as the infected were, what those soldiers wanted to do was just a little bit worse. Same as with the Cylons.
