Ancestor podiobook attacked

Posted in trifle on December 25th, 2005 by Evo Terra

How better to express your love to your fellow human than by hacking into his website and pasting a bunch of fundie schlopp all over the place? It happened today to Scott Sigler’s Ancestor:

We received a long email that said a lot of nasty things, but here is a quote from it to give you an idea of the content:
“You blasphemers are spreading the false scripiture (sic) of evolution, trying to make people think its okay to merge human DNA with animal DNA. Humans are not animals! It is impossible to combine Godly DNA of Man, who was created in God’s image, with the DNA of beasts. God will punish (sic) you. We have destroyed your blog and hopefully your sinful story.”

Scott’s got the site up and running, but he’s lost all the comments– and he gets piles of comments for every episode.

Does anyone other than me find it ironic that people who are so bad at biology and anthropology have a good grasp of computer technology? For most of us, they go hand in hand. Maybe they should look up the definition of “fiction”. Pretty sure it’s out there…

The Dude from Mars

Posted in trifle on December 25th, 2005 by Evo Terra

A few weeks back, we received a package in the mail from The Dude from Mars. I didn’t realize there were any dudes on Mars, nor that it was home to The Dude.

It turned out to be a promo pack from an independent singer/songwriter/producer/engineer, including a copy of his CD: Songs from Mars. I know that many of you are fans of the Dr. Demento show. If you are one of them, then this is right up your alley. Funny stuff.

Evo interviewed again

Posted in trifle on December 25th, 2005 by Evo Terra

I just did an interview with Alan Rothman on his Business of Success radio program. It’s always interesting being interviewed by “old school” radio, and I’m always struck by the dichotomy of “that way”, versus “our way”.

If you’re interested, you can listen or subscribe from this page. The interview was ostensibly in the vein of promoting Podcasting for Dummies (have you bought your copy yet), but we did get into science fiction, Serenity, and conventions toward the end.

The Dragon Page…totally Airwolf!

Posted in trifle on December 13th, 2005 by Brian Brown

So I’m listening to Mur Laffery’s First Birthday for Geek Fu Action Grip and her friend, Jason Adams of the Random Signal podcast, suddenly says “Your podcasts are so Airwolf!”

So naturally, my curiosity piqued. Was this a reference to one of the coolest action shows from the 80’s starring Jan Michael-Vincent and Ernest Borgnine?

Apparently, yes.

Happy Buy Me Something Month!

Posted in trifle on December 13th, 2005 by Michael R. Mennenga

Ok, this is wild, but I have been asked by several people. (5 believe it or not,) for a wish list.

So here it is.

Be warned - I have very expensive needs. Most everything is for the studio and the show. (There are a couple personal items)

If you’re really feeling the love, and gotta give us something, then here it is.

You fans are weird, but we love ya!

What if they gave us an award, and nobody knew?

Posted in trifle on December 11th, 2005 by Evo Terra

Evidence is quickly mounting that indicates a pivotal moment in the Dragon Page Wingin’ It! history was on September 29, 2005. On that date, we were secretly awarded the Best Local Podcast Award (which sounds significantly redundant) by the Phoenix New Times.

So now look at the date of this posting. No, I’m not that big of a lazy bastard, nor have we blown off this accolade. But until Summer stumbled across it a day ago, we had no idea!

So thanks, Phoenix New Times. Though next time, a quick note would be handy. It’s not like our emails are plastered all over the net!
