Octavia Butler passes

Posted in trifle on February 27th, 2006 by Evo Terra

On Saturday, one of my favorite authors passed away. Octavia Butler was 58 years old.

She wrote a different kind of science fiction, and had a knack for bringing issues of social consciousness out and blending them with “what if..” Her last book, Fledgling, was recently released.

A few weeks ago, Mike and I had the pleasure of talking with Octavia. That interview is scheduled to be released in a couple of weeks, which now seems rather… awkward.

Steve as cool and kind enough to make a couple of killer beer coasters. They look great and are behind the link below!

Feel free to print them out on some cork-board and send in pics of you using them… preferably while playing the drinking game. :)

Can someone embed a SWF file for me?

Posted in trifle on February 19th, 2006 by Evo Terra

I’ve got a really cool SWF file set to BadgerBadgerBadger… but I’ll be damned if I know how to embed it in an HTML page so that it doesn’t take up the whole screen.

Anyone know how to do this? The link to the file is at http://dragonpage.com/MikeMikeMike02.swf

E.

Update: Chris told me how to do it. So this post is toast, and the file is up!

Where in the World is The Dragon Page?

Posted in trifle on February 19th, 2006 by Evo Terra

Tom from the UK decided to take us along on a recent trip to the French Alps. Other than some puzzling pairings made at French quick stops, he had a fine time and provides photographic evidence that he tooks us on top of the moutain with him!

Pimp That Book!

Posted in trifle on February 16th, 2006 by Joe Murphy

I’ve been a long time listener of The Writer’s Roundtable. Recently the show’s host, Antoinette Kuritz, informed me about an opportunity some of our underpublished listeners may like to know about.

“Brian Jud, (www.bookmarketingworks.com) and Antoinette Kuritz, literary publicist, (www.lajollawritersconference.com) have decided to field a weekend seminar on PR and Marketing for authors and publishers. So many of these seminars out there are cattle shows at which everything is upsell. Instead, this seminar will provide tremendous content and information to a handful of authors and publishers at a time - no more than 12. Attendees will leave with a practical, comprehensive marketing plan, a media marketing plan, content for their press kits, hooks, sound bites, and real knowledge of how to implement or oversee their own PR and marketing. This is not an inexpensive weekend, but the value will far outrun the cost. The first seminar will be in San Diego, March 24-26.”

If you think you could benefit from an intensive weekend like this, check out Brian and Antoinette at www.bookmarketingworks.com.
