cmaler may not travel far, but the places he visits have their own special charm. Thanks for taking us along, and I’m gonna have a Hobgoblin tonight!

I wasn’t too impressed with Hobgoblin. What did you think about it? It was surprisingly bland to me.
Have you tried Holy Grail Ale? I really enjoyed that one.

Hobgoblin is OK, Spitfire is good, Morning Glory is the best. It’a good thing I live in UK, I can get good ale easily.

Hobgoblin was fine, but when you live just a Ego’s throw away from the Stone Brewery you get the fresh brew. Bottled beer is just not on the same level as fresh brewed.
Let’s face it, the best brew has yet to be tasted: Charlie the Beer Guy’s Oktoberfest Special!
C’mon, Charlie, I know you have a bottle just for me. I promise to drink it thinking of you.

hey Hobgoblin may not be the best but it’s very quaffable, like Newcastle. It’s a great beer to use to introduce pee-water-beer drinkers to the pleasures of a real beverage. Living here in South Florida, we have some of the lousiest beers imaginable. Breweries are almost non-existant here, (because of our terrible water which is loaded with humic acid - I used to homebrew, I know this ) so we take what we can get.

What player is that? I’m gonna have to find all these beers.

Seems to me like Karen needs to be nice and send some Stone Imperial Russian Stout lovin’ out this way

Well Karen, the Oktoberfest special may be a ways off, but I did put some Stone in Speaking of Beer’s first show, available any day now. It’s a little obvious–Arrogant Bastard–but you just can’t say enough good things about it. And about that draft/bottle thing: stay tuned. It will be a recurring theme on the show, with some special guests helping out in round 1…

That player looks like the Sandisk Sansa E140. It’s good that the guys are being reminded that there are more than just iPods out there…

Any of you folks homebrewers?
March 11th, 2006 at 1:21 am
I used to homebrew b4 I left to drive over-the-road trucking.. loved it… wife hated it… the smell of boiling WORT w/ hops drove her crazy…. that and the mess when the carboy went wild on some 22% Cheery Stout. Haven’t done it since going local, but will probably start soon… maybe some Wingin’It inspired brew’s? Mike and I have similar taste’s in brew’s… but I just can’t see making 5gallons of bitter brew for Evo…..

I was a homebrewer twice…from ‘89 to ‘91 and from ‘95 to ‘01. I got to the point where I was turning out about a batch a month before things got derailed (pleasantly) by the birth of my son. The kids are now at a point where it’s possible to spend a chunk of Saturday in the garage, and between Wingin It and my Speaking of Beer podcast, I’m definitely feeling the itch…and I’ve got a totally Evo recipe I can trot out…
