I have to wonder if the title didn’t start as some high school exercise. Take a simple object and make it into a cool movie title. Little Johnny, take Soap and make it into a movie title.

Perhaps you heard yesterday afternoon’s NPR report on the film? They had a brief interview with Samuel L, and they aired comments from the director promising more gore, more foul language, and more nudity in re-shot scenes (to nail the R rating), because that’s what the viewers want.
