New word for the podcasting lexicon
A little over a year ago, I coined the term “podiobook“. A new term has made it’s way into the language of podcasting courtesy of Steve Eley from Escape Pod, the science fiction podcast magazine which you should all be subscribed to already:
PODSTURBATE (v.)
1. To spend inordinate time and/or energy competing for status on sites that matter primarily to other podcasters.
2. To exhort one’s listeners to visit podcast community sites and perform actions to raise one’s personal status.PODSTURBATION (n.)
The act of podsturbating.PODSTURBATION SITE (n.)
A Web site or online community frequented primarily by podcasters, with ranking mechanisms that enable or encourage podsturbation.
