Email or RSS?
Hey gang. Like many of you, my life is completely crazy and there would be no way I could keep up with all the things if it weren’t for RSS. But I know that a lot of you don’t use the RSS feed for various reasons. Good enough– to each his own.
I’m curious if there would be a call for getting RSS-like updates via email? Not a mailing list per se, but simply a service that notifies you when a new show or a new entry has been made on this website. The system rolls up all the posts made in a day, and sends you an email. That simple.
What the hell? Let’s try it.
I’ll add this to the sidebar later now.

Sure, what the hell as you said

Yeah, but surely you are already subscribed to the RSS feed, Andrea. Right? You’ll just get the same stuff twice. ‘Course, you may discover one is better for you than the other. I return to my “what the hell” statement.

Yea! Another way to get more stuff! Because I need more stuff! So send me more stuff!

No, I am not getting the RSS feed- I think I would like email better though. Who knows. I sure as hell don’t.

What the hell. I’ll give it a try. Thanks Evo.

Gil - It’s not more stuff. It’s the exact same stuff as we already distribute with our RSS feed.
Andrea - You’ve just shattered an illusion of mine. Since you post approximately .34 seconds after a new show goes up, I assumed you were subscribed to the feed. Just based on that revelation, I’m calling this an success.

Whats SRS?

Evo, that is only the connection you and I share. I am one with you.

Grrr … I tried to subscribe, but my screen reader has no way of reading those blasted verification images. Any chance of installing some sort of audio alternative for those who can’t see the image? I know it cuts down on the spam, but … grrr…. I think, as examples of audio alternatives, Paypal has one, Microsoft.com has one, Live Journal has one, and I encountered it on another site that isn’t coming to mind, but theyall work basically the sm wy: you click on a “can’t see the image” link and a speech synthesizer plays the letters so you can hear them.

I subscribe to all the DragonPage/Slice of SciFi/Michael and Evo feeds along with several other SciFi related RSS feeds.
I use the free services of Newsgator (http://www.newsgator.com) as my easy to use RSS reader/aggregator so that I can keep up on all things SciFi.
Just for the sake of comparison Evo we use the services of FeedBlitz (http://www.feedblitz.com) at ‘The ScapeCast’ (http://www.scapecast.org) for our email notification service. I also use them for my techie blog (http://www.thesmallbusinesstech.com).
Take care,
Kevin

I’m subscribed to all the feeds, but for those looking for a good RSS reader, check out IE 7 beta 2. I’ve been trying it and the RSS reader is pretty good. Just think while your searching the web you can automatically find out when your favorite feeds have new messages in them.
