Wingin’ It #69: Voicemail Show
Michael and Evo rock the mics on their own this week.
First Drink of the Day: Thanks to Karen from Kalifornia and Smokin’ Joe: Shark Bite Red Ale.
- And now for the voicemails:
- Scott from Tucson hasn’t heard of hetero “partners” either.
- Robert from New Hampshire singin’ the praises of the poetry slam contributors.
- Gil from Milwaukee hung out with KfK and Mike at Comic-Con.
- Enormous from Australia with his F-word contributions.
- Enormous from Australia with another F-word contribution.
- Enormous from Australia with something about blind drunk dogs.
- Paul from Des Moines with his F-word contribution. And the guys don’t know the difference between Spicoli and Vinnie Barbarino.
- Paul from Des Moines bitches about another weird sculpture, the Plantoir.
- WTF! Mennenga on the Signal!?!
- What is Stargate: Atlantis good for? Snakes on a Plane, man!
- Chaz from DC, at Shore Leave, pissed drunk, gonna see the Green Fairy. Interested in poisoning yourself? Mike recommends going here.
- A caller has some advice on TD0013 and his emotions.
- Reaver in Madison is befuddled over Joe’s refusing to accept the existance of the euphonium, to which Joe says, “I’ll believe in the euphonium when the Kansas school board believes in teaching science in science classes.”
- Reaver in Madison teaches Joe what a euphonium is. Now, thanks to education, I believe in the euphonium. See that Kansas, the power of education? I’m still a little skeptical of the conical bore, though. That sounds like bullshit.
- Anna from Washington loves the Ale-8-One. With a little sumpn-sumpn extra.
- Andrea from Chicago at home after a night of Sake bombers.
- Bronson (?) from Australia has a nomination for the best villian actor of all time, and the next movie he should be in.
- Reaver in Madison educates Mark in Memphis about the current state of roller derby. Man, as much as this show must piss Reaver off, I’m so glad she is still listening.
- Gary from Wichita can’t get the good beer. Hear that, Kansas? EDUCATION AND BEER!
- Yeah, we know about the Dragon Plage thing.
- Chaz from DC never got to do the fairy.
- A caller tests Evo’s drumming creds.
- Rhetro has a metaphysical puzzle.
- Enormous from Australia found Joe a little pissy on his last show.
- More about absinthe on wikipedia.
- Enormous, again, fighting with Lorrie about BSG.
- Jack from Montana, willing to donate his frequent flyer miles to the guys. All you other losers need to pony up!
- Liam from Springfield, MO need some Stone substitutes.
- Alex from Ohio overhauled our Wingin’ It Wikipedia page.
- Imp is going to be at the Portable Media Expo!
- Imp’s little sister is going to be at the expo! Jesus, I need to go to more cons.
They say there’s not going to be a “real” show this week. They’re wrong! Mwahahahahaha!

August 1st, 2006 at 6:29 am
Oh come on guys, after all the work we done and the Fan Crew didn’t even get a mention???
And that can’t count as Voicemail Show #69 since no one commented on Show #69
Good fun apart from that
August 1st, 2006 at 6:52 am
Hey guys!!!! Great new addition to your cast!!!! I think this “Evo” guy may just work out!
August 1st, 2006 at 7:04 am
Wow, are you 2 man enough from Imp and her sister?
August 1st, 2006 at 9:09 am
Yeah I think this Evo guy might have what it takes!
Great show needs more euphonium though.
August 1st, 2006 at 9:09 am
Any chance for a trade-in on bottle openers, mine is a little falling apart.
August 1st, 2006 at 9:19 am
Imp…Imp’s sis…KfK…
I am _SO_DANG_HAPPY_ I’ll be heading to PME this year.
Three of a kind…now, if Drea and Reaver were coming to PME, that would make it a full house, wouldn’t it?
August 1st, 2006 at 9:21 am
Dammit Rhett….
August 1st, 2006 at 9:43 am
Tee, Tee, Tee– you couldn’t handle that full house my friend.
August 1st, 2006 at 9:49 am
Yeah…and it sounds like this “evo” guy could make a decent (albeit bitter) addition to the Wingin’ It crew. And now that you’ve got a full crew at the mics when are you going to interview Mr. Reeves?
August 1st, 2006 at 9:56 am
DAMMIT RHETT!…
Whos house is holding what now?
Thats 3 votes for Evo! I think hes well on his way to becoming a full fledge WI! member!
August 1st, 2006 at 10:15 am
Evo gets my vote.. maybe he could be Mikes partner and then the show can be called Michael and Evo’s Wingin. It
August 1st, 2006 at 10:17 am
Whoa Andrea that’s a BRILLANT idea! No wonder you are the Smarty Hottie!
August 1st, 2006 at 10:18 am
I however can’t spell Brilliant, that’s why I’m not so smarty and not so hottie.
August 1st, 2006 at 10:36 am
Doz, its okay.. i cant spell anything.
August 1st, 2006 at 11:22 am
Speaking of odd sculpture, here’s a giant form in my town of Springfield, MO:

August 1st, 2006 at 11:33 am
Liam…
What the fork is that?!
August 1st, 2006 at 11:35 am
Huh….
Wait what are we beating?
August 1st, 2006 at 12:04 pm

August 1st, 2006 at 12:08 pm

August 1st, 2006 at 12:52 pm
(complete lack of innuendo)
Paul, if you’re out there…does the Merle Hay Mall still have that giant bronze sculpture of an anatomically correct naked guy–Hermes, I think–riding a tricycle?
August 1st, 2006 at 12:54 pm
Haven’t listened to the VM show, but based Alvie’s post I assume some of them made it in? LOL
August 1st, 2006 at 12:58 pm
ooo anatomically correct naked hermes guy??? on a tricycle? wow. We dont have that in Chicago
Oh Rhett, read the show notes….
August 1st, 2006 at 1:03 pm
Dammit Rheeeeeetttttttt!!!!!!!
Whatabout herpes????
August 1st, 2006 at 1:11 pm
Yeah, he’s not very excited about the trike, though…
August 1st, 2006 at 1:14 pm
Alvie- herpes? you have herpes?
Charlie- What is he excited about?
August 1st, 2006 at 1:17 pm
Judging by the beautifully rendered bronze flacidity, he’s not excited about much of anything.
Alvie, it’s no longer a death sentence…
August 1st, 2006 at 1:19 pm
Im all sorts of outta whack.
Herpes and trikes really got to me.
August 1st, 2006 at 1:20 pm
Not that I got herpes on trikes….
August 1st, 2006 at 1:23 pm
Herpes is bad mmmkay
August 1st, 2006 at 1:25 pm
monkey?…
Oh, “mmmmmkay”.
sorry. the hell is this conversation going? Ahm ascareed.
August 1st, 2006 at 1:29 pm
on another note:
Oh, Gary from Wichita…the midwest is a little slow on the uptake for big strong interesting beers like Stone’s. I’d second Rogue as a substitute. Are you loooking for something particular in your beer?
(now let’s see if Gary is lurking out there…)
August 1st, 2006 at 1:30 pm
About time you guys got back!
August 1st, 2006 at 1:33 pm
Oh show notes. Well, there’s some dude named Rhetro I guess. Hey Gil made a post!
August 1st, 2006 at 1:35 pm
Oh, and Gary, if you can find it, Dogfish Head (out of Delaware) is a great brewery also…
August 1st, 2006 at 1:36 pm
Yay Gil!
Yay shameless self promotion Rhett!
Yes, Gary, lets see if youre out there…do show yourself and talk about beer.
August 1st, 2006 at 1:37 pm
rhut-rho?
what was that about the midwest being slow??? Ill show you slow Mr Arizona
August 1st, 2006 at 1:44 pm
Andrea he’s speaking of beer…what do you care?
August 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pm
Goose Island was a good beer and with their recent stock or distrobution deal you’ll probably start seeing their beers in the area if you have already. The Goose Island kind of reminded me of Full Sails beers when I tried them. Admittly it was a few years ago.
August 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pm
Huh?
August 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pm
Beer Guy’s mini-bio: Akron (ages 0 - 3), Des Moines (ages 4 - 23) Moravia, IA (summers), Madison, WI (1995 - 1996). Brother in Oswego, formerly of Aurora, formerly of Bolingbrook. Grandparents in Belmond, IA.
My midwest ties go deep, and I so I can say with some authority that yes, midwesterners are….what was I talking about again…?
August 1st, 2006 at 1:47 pm
Oh beer! Not really navigation talk. Gotcha!
August 1st, 2006 at 1:55 pm
Well I was grown and raised midwestern and Im not too slow, am I??
Whats all this beer talk??? I had the BEST vodka in Italy btw… Keglevich..
it was all flavored and nummy
August 1st, 2006 at 2:01 pm

Oh and Gary - Boulevard. Good beer you can get in Kansas.
August 2nd, 2006 at 9:22 am
Hey, I did comment on show 69, but Michael played it as the first comment on Slice. Probably worked better over there in the context.
Ya darn kids - get off my lawn!
August 2nd, 2006 at 9:26 am
And hey, what’s up with this taunting about there not being a real show this week? That’s just cruel.
But, I see that a real show has been posted, so all…er, some is forgiven.
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:21 pm
Man, those VMs from Imp and her sister almost made me hurt myself. I was holding up some weights when Imp started oozing and I started giggling.
Not only is this program not safe for work, but it may not even be safe for the gym!
August 2nd, 2006 at 8:45 pm
That’s it, WI is going to have to carry a warning from the Surgeon General at the beginning of each episode.
August 3rd, 2006 at 5:03 pm
I must say it was weird to hear them solo it out after so long…
