My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I was just recently telling someone I was turning 33. Then I had to to correct myself when I realized that I was already 33 and actually turning 34 here soon.

Back when I was younger, I always had some benchmark to look forward to – 16, 21, 25 (car insurance). After 25, it got harder, but 30 was coming up so that was a benchmark. 40 is still a ways off, so I’m not really looking toward it.

Do any of my fellow thirtysomethings (fuck, I am a thirtysomething now, aren’t I?) have trouble remembering how old they are?
