Torture OK, Vegemite not so much
Things are getting a little bizarre around here. Did you know that the U.S. has banned the import of Vegemite and it’s such a big deal that the U.S. Border Patrol is asking would-be crossers to declare the some-say-tasty spread?

It’s an outrage that vegemite is banned. Please consider signing my petition at http://www.savevegemite.com and help get our favourite Aussie icon unbanned.
WE ARE NOT HAPPY LITTLE VEGEMITES!!!!

I was about to send in a very angry voicemail about this: you just can’t express frustration and anger properly in a comment. Know what I mean?

“No, Bob. How many times do I have to tell you. It’s not Vegemite you’re suposed to be looking for, it’s Dynamite! D-Y-N-A-mite!”

Everything I have seen cited goes back to that one Aussie article, has there been another story on it? Just wondering.

And all this time I thought I would get busted for receiving beer in the mail. Now I have to hide my Vegemite stash. DAMN!

I had no trouble bringing it in a year ago. And now I will? Admittedly, I am after more info on it before I say it is true. But what has changed? It’s the same stuff now as then.
But at the moment, Mike, no refills for you. Is chocolate still afe to send?

It seems somewhat odd to ban a product for being good for you.

WYD
Weapons of yeast destruction.
Either that or US customs have succumbed to Marmite’s new advertising campaign.

ok. I have it from a realiable sorce that the reason for the ban of sales is that Kraft won’t let the FDA see the details of the manurfacturing process. I didn’t realise it was such a big secret. It’s mushed up yeast, for pities sake.
This still doesn’t explain the ban on bringing in personal use stuff. There’s nothing in it that should be banned from import. (If you don’t like the taste, don’t eat it. I feel the same about anchovies…. I just don’t eat them).
The saga continues. And we still aren’t happy.
