If you believe Evo’s on to something, vis a vis his politics rant, you’ll probably enjoy the 1949 movie of Robert Penn Warran’s “All The King’s Men” Note well, the 1949 version, not the sorry mess with Sean Penn released earlier this year. Finding the right one can be a little confusing as the ‘49 verson was re-released, with a picture of James Gando;fini on the cover, as part of a pre-release promotion for the 2006 version. Sigh.

Michael Craven – well, yes, the discussion was on a college bull session level, but what is Wingin’ It if not a damn fine impression of a college bull session? And my thought was, hell, that’s the best political discussion I’ve heard in a long time — which is just a bit scarry, when you come to think of it.

Evo (and gang) your impressions of the national parties are not unreasonable. However, there is a HUGE disconnect between national politics and local (city/county/township) politics. And in local I’ll include the locally elected representatives to the State legislature. I do not include State wide officers (governor, AG, etc) or federal legislators. Visit local city/county offices and you’ll find a very different atmosphere. Sure, in big cities (Phoenix, LA, Chicago, etc) city politics are not very local, but ward/precinct politics is. Visit a meeting of the county Republican or Democratic party. Very different. To the extent that we let the national parties dictate to the local organizations, we really do deserve the government we get.

I am sure there is a lot of voice messages on this. Blucher does not mean glue. There is no secret in-joke with the name. It was just a running gag paying homage to the clap of thunder when a villain is introduced. Funny in itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s own right in that the horses have no reason to be upset over the name Blucher, other than Mel Brooks involvement.

Ah, crap you guys. Do some research on the people, there are plenty of good candidates out there. Its not all gloom and doom, we just really need a balance of power. The past 6 years has been all republican so its been a rubber stamp government with no oversight. America has always been best with a congressional majority that is the opposite party than the president. That is what we need to begin with, then the boat will start to right itself.

Politics and religion do not go hand in hand. That’s a theocracy and we are NOT a theocracy. Don’t vote based on religion. That is one of the HUGE problems with our current “leaders.”

The I.T. Crowd is hilarious. I downlo … er … took a jet to the U.K. to watch all the episodes. There is one episode in particular where someone’s desk catches on fire and instead of putting it out one of the characters places an empty monitor casing in front of the fire to make it look like a screensaver. I also like the opening music.

My Dad is one of those people who seems to believe in the political party of 30 years ago and still laments that his guy didn’t win back then. I think if he really did check what he believes with what the political parties stand for he’d end up changing his party.
