Wingin’ It #83: Voicemail Show
A cast of thousands this week! Mike, Joe, Chalie the Beer Guy, and Debbie from East Mesa.
Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. Joe gets some Black Cherry Soda, so he’s happy. Debbie has some Black Cherry Smirnoff.
- And now for the voicemails:
- The next pool party should be our inaugural convention!
- John from Fullerton calls from The Military and the Media podcast.
- “Are you from the past?” quote is from The IT Crowd.
- Julio from New York comments on Bill Mahr and Dan Carlin.
- Chaz from DC… Naked Grace Park!
- Big and Tasty eats himself.
- Big and Tasty, is the luckiest person in the world.
- Mark from Memphis doesn’t wanna hear all that intestine pushing against the balls talk.
- Mark from Memphis suggests a sync point for our DVD commentary.
- Mark from Memphis comments more on the Frau Blücher, and he gets it wrong, too.
- Mark from Memphis wants to have a game identified. Is it Battlezone? No? Tank? No? Then no freakin’ idea, dude. Sorry.
- Joe bemoans his poor Minesweeper chops.
- Mark from Memphis was apparently highly addicted to the game he can no longer remember the name of.
- Ian from Cleveland… Frack the Vote!
- Anna in Washington is a library geek. That is so hot. And she’s got a joke. (Oh, and BTW, listen to that again. I wasn’t saying there were going to be a lot of clit jokes to find at the Indigo Girls concert there, Charlie.)
- Doug from Alaska calls to tell Summer that his package of fish was sent. Mike comments that it was well received.
- Moose from the Great White North bitches about childproof gas cans.
- Mike from Gainesville thinks that Heroes is a cross of Xmen and Rent. Um… ok?

Uber-Geek game for me was the original Doom. When the difficulty level Ultra-Violence started to become mundane, I turned Nightmare. There I could not make it past the 4th level. In Nightmare the monsters are even faster, your kills respawn 8 seconds latter and cheat codes do NOT work. Unfortunately, the ammo and health packs do not respawn.

I think the game that Mark was talking about was called Empire.

ditto beat me to it. Just found the game name. That was the first game where I heard my wife say, “Are you coming to bed?” Yea, when I finish this turn…
November 7th, 2006 at 12:38 pm
Yeah, lol. And a turn could take a long time as you try and figure out the best way to build and move your forces.
November 7th, 2006 at 12:41 pm
Then that turn finds a port city and you think, just a couple of more turns to start getting some troops to attack the city. Then the city is taken and you think, Now I can start building ships. Then you keep playing until you have a ship built, then you want to send it out… Some one need to pull the plug.

“YEAH! SHIPS! I GOT SHIPS!!!” And all the people in the computer lab look at you like you are crazy, as if they aren’t playing Empire at 3am instead of doing assignments or studying. Ha!
Ah, the good old days.

If you can wear out a controller faster than your teenage son can wear out his shoes, you are a game geek.
Hey, gimme a Zelda, man, I’m jonesin’ here….
November 7th, 2006 at 1:47 pm
Empire! Yea Gods, I lost days playing that game. Man I can’t belive I forgot the name of it.
Hope that is the one Mark was thinking of, cuz it sure was the one I was trying to remember.

Hey, Evo, the “Are you from the past?” bit from the I.T. Crowd, was hilarious. The I.T. Crowd is a show in the UK on channel 4 Link.
Sorry I’m a little behind I just listened to Ep 83. Anyway, you can find torrents of the show pretty easily. It’s definitly worth checking out.

Sorry, I’m a moron. I meant to post that last comment to the Ep 83 post not the voicemail one. And I see that someone already told you about the IT crowd. I thought it was strange that no one posted a comment on here about it. Anyway, still very good episode. THx Later.
