Joe Murphy — In Loving Memory
We are sad to announce that our beloved friend and colleague Joe Murphy left us today to his on going battle with leiomyosarcoma carcinoma. We loved him very much and will be greatly missed in our lives. We bid farewell to a dear and sweet man.

You’ll be missed, Joe!
April 1st, 2007 at 6:26 pm
We miss you Joe. You live on in our hearts, our ears and our iPods. I had the honor of spending time with you at Dragon*Con 2006, but it was not nearly enough. We love you. We will remember you. Farewell Dear Friend.
To the Farpoint Media Family, we love you. Take what time you need. Let us know if you need anything, and we will be there for you.
You are all in my thought and prayers. I will have a root beer for Joe and then go and hug someone I love.
April 1st, 2007 at 6:51 pm
I’m very sorry. The only thing that I can think of that’s good about this horrible situation is that at least he got to go while being surrounded by friends who love him.

Joe Murphy, I toast you with my root beer held high. You are missed, and you will not be forgotten in our memories, our podcasts, or the “hallowed halls” of Draco Vista studios.
With the real beer in my other hand, I toast Mike, Evo, and everyone there who have worked firsthand to help Joe’s final days be filled with love and comfort, and Joe’s family feel the same.
Brilliant.

Joe is now a ‘leaf on the wind’…
I only knew Joe from Far Point’s shows but today upon hearing the news it feels like I’ve lost a close friend. The shock was incredible and I’m here half a world away and I never met the guy in person – which is really my loss.
To the people and Evo at Far Point and Joe’s family, my thoughts are with you.
Cheers from West Oz

Joe is an inspiration to anyone fighting a difficult fight. His mix of humor, compassion and kindness when he was going through tough times is in my mind the model to follow when dealing with tragedy.
Joe’s family and the whole Farpoint family will be in my thoughts this week. You guys take care of yourselves.

The past is deathless.
Souls are wells too deep
to spend their purest gains.
All that he gave to you
is yours to keep
while memory remains.
Who never had and lost,
forlorn are they
far more that you and I
who had, and have.
We’ll miss you, Joe.

My your soul be at peace for eternity my friend…
Which for Joe probably includes all you can drink Bartles and James… and an entire cable channel dedicated to Misty Mundae flicks.
You go boy.
Ill miss you buddy.
April 2nd, 2007 at 7:29 am
Oh, I’m so sorry. Joe, I miss you. The world is a smaller, dimmer place without your light in it. Rest well.
April 2nd, 2007 at 8:09 am
I never met or spoken with Joe. Personally, the barometer I used about people is: Is this a person I would love to share a drink with at a pub? Joe Murphy rated very high on this list. I do wish all who knew him well, the best. I look forward to having that drink with Joe on the other side. Joe, first round is on me.
April 2nd, 2007 at 9:12 am
Even from my first listening of the shows, Joe was a strong but quite force within the chaos around him.
Joe, you have been, and will be missed.
My rootbeer will not taste as sweet anymore.
April 2nd, 2007 at 9:23 am
Very sad news.
I’ll echo Lambo’s fine words
Second round’s one me, Mr Murphy

Feeling the loss over here in the UK Joe, and the love too, you have the best friends any man could wish for. We’ll all be raising a glass to you across this tiny planet. Heres hoping youre the 5th cylon and wil wake up surrounded by Sixes! Rest in peace buddy.
April 2nd, 2007 at 12:22 pm
Thank you, Joe; and to you and all that knew you I say pax vobiscum.
April 2nd, 2007 at 3:14 pm
The first words I heard him say as he walked in the room in 5th grade… “Hi, I’m Joe. Will you be my friend?”
The last words I heard him say as I turned to walk out of the room on Saturday… “I’ll see you later.”
In the 25 years between those two moments, I was blessed to have a friend like Joe. I will cherish those moments forever.
To Michael & Summer and others in AZ who took such good care of Joe in the last few months, I can’t say “thank you” enough.
April 2nd, 2007 at 4:30 pm
With rootbeer in hand i toast you, Joe, with a juice box chaser. It’s too hard to write anything else, except to say we’ll miss you. You were just Brilliant.
April 2nd, 2007 at 5:31 pm

I toast you with my mug held hight and my heart low.
Hugs to the crew at Far Point And Joe s family

Good bye Joe, you were the Kick Ass Mystic Ninja that I agreed with the most. You will forever live on in our ipods, hearts, and minds. I never got a chance to meet you, but after listening to you for such a long time, it kind of feels as if I do.
We miss you Joe. Have a good travel wherever you are now.

Bye Joe. Hope you enjoy the shield..and make sure he washes the suit before you try that on.
April 3rd, 2007 at 2:45 am
What an amazing man. What an amazing group of people around him. I have just heard the news and am listening to the memorial show at the moment. I am sorry to hear Joe has moved on to the next great adventure but I am inspired by his courage in the face of his sickness. How many people do we know that could look at such a challenge with humour and courage? I also want to say that his friends, the whole crew of wingin it, leanne, mur and everyone who stood by him, really inspired me and give people a glimpse of what real support is.
Joe, whatever your doing, I hope the sun is on your back and the wind is in your hair. Have a good one

Fare ye well, Joe, aka Randy Innuendo. Knew you too little, and not nearly enough. You were, and shall ever be, brilliant.

A Eulogy from Knights of the Dinner Table
Adapted for Joe Murphy
The Empty Chair
There is an empty chair,
in the studio this day.
A hallowed place where,
a friend once stayed.
The sound of his voice,
my ears long to hear.
Or perhaps it would suffice,
if he should suddenly appear.
With root beer in hand,
and stories to share.
All his friends would stand,
as he sat in the empty chair.
I hear his voice a-callin’,
and it ties my heart in a knot.
For he cries, “Though a comrade has fallen,
You must podcast for those who cannot.â€Â
We conquered worlds on the run,
we and him in the name of fun.
And as others may come and go,
I make both both friend and foe.
But what I long for most,
is our past now long a ghost.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Damn it. You warned me at Worldcon about listning to ‘Wingin’ It’ at work. I probably shouldn’t have. Now I’m sitting here at my desk crying.
Godspeed, Mason Rocket.
April 3rd, 2007 at 3:42 pm
Sorry to hear the news but at least he was surrounded by friends who loved him.
April 3rd, 2007 at 5:27 pm
It takes a very special person to make people that don’t really even know him love him all the same. I have “known” Joe for what seems to me like a long time, through my iPod, and occasionally through the live feed irc chats. I have never met the man and yet I felt a great loss this morning when I heard the news. Joe, you moved me and I will miss you.
April 3rd, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Dale Cordes – How lucky you were. Perhaps it’s just me being greedy, but I feel cheated. I want more, and I can’t have any. We should have had years, and we only had days. What only makes it worse is that I still have him on my skype list. And I can’t call him anymore.

I’ll never forget Joe,
He use to make me laugh all the time, even though I didn’t listen in much.
I’m sorry to hear about Joe’s loss, I just came back on the podcasts reasontly.

Joe,
I’ll miss you a lot, but, you will still live on in our harts.
